HARRISON, N.J. (Aug. 7, 2026) – San Diego Wave FC (10-5-2, 32 points) lost 1-0 to Gotham FC (11-4-3, 37 points) at Sports Illustrated Stadium on Friday night.
The opening half was tightly contested, with both sides creating opportunities. San Diego came close in the 25th minute when Melanie Barcenas slipped Trinity Byars in behind the Gotham defense, but her effort was denied by goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger.
Gotham FC found the breakthrough just before halftime when Jaedyn Shaw scored in the 44th minute to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
San Diego was unable to find the equalizer in the second half, and the match finished 1-0 in favor of Gotham FC.
