San Diego Wave FC announced today that the club signed free agent midfielder Savannah to McCaskill to a three-year contract.

“Savannah is among the top midfielders in NWSL, and we are incredibly excited she has chosen to come to San Diego,” said San Diego Wave FC General Manager Molly Downtain. “We are confident that Savannah’s ability and experience will prove to be an important part of our continued success as a club. Her quality, work ethic and tenacity fit our system well, and it’s fantastic to add a player of her level to our locker room.”

The 2024 season will be McCaskill’s seventh season in the league, following two seasons with NJ/NY Gotham FC (2018-19), two seasons with Chicago Red Stars (2019-20), one season with Racing Louisville (2021) and two seasons with Angel City FC (2022-23).

McCaskill, 27, had her best professional season to date in 2023 and was named a two-time Player of the Month and a member of the NWSL Second XI. The South Carolina native appeared in 23 games (23 starts), while earning four goals and three assists.

On the international level, McCaskill has represented the United States U-23 National Team and was nominated for U.S. Soccer’s 2017 Young Female Athlete of the Year award. She was named to the U.S. roster for the 2018 SheBelieves Cup where she appeared in all three matches.
