The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that San Diego Wave FC defender Naomi Girma has been named to her second straight NWSL Team of the Month for May presented by Mastercard.
The Wave are coming off the club’s third straight road clean sheet, in strong part to Girma’s play on the backline. The San Jose, Calif. native appeared in every minute of play, maintaining an 86 percent passing accuracy, completing 118 passes in San Diego’s defensive half and recovering 37 possessions.
Girma and the Wave return home to Snapdragon Stadium for a rivalry match against Angel City FC on Saturday, June 17, at 1:00 p.m. PT. Single-game tickets are available here, and the match will be broadcasted nationally on CBS. The day will kick off with pre-game Fan Fest, and the first 10,000 fans at the gate will receive a jersey rally towel, presented by Kaiser Permanente.
