San Diego Wave FC (6-3-1, 19 points) continues on the road as they take on Racing Louisville FC (2-3-5, 11 points) this Friday, June 9, at Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, KY. The match will air on Paramount+ with kickoff slated for 5:00 p.m. PT.

San Diego and Racing Louisville met twice in the 2022 regular season, with Racing Louisville coming out undefeated (0-1-1.) In their first meeting, Racing Louisville’s Savannah DeMelo scored in the 27th minute of the match and the Wave were unable to come back from that, ending in a 0-1 loss, which was San Diego’s first loss of the 2022 regular season.

Nearly two months later, San Diego and Louisville met at Torero Stadium in San Diego where the Wave recorded 19 shots while Louisville recorded 20 shots but both teams were unsuccessful at scoring and the match remained 0-0 at fulltime.

Racing Louisville is coming off a 1-1 draw on Saturday against the Washington Spirit with Louisville’s goal coming from Savannah DeMelo in the 51st minute. DeMelo was just named the NWSL Player of the Month for tallying three goals and two assists in five competitions during the month of May.

San Diego is sitting in second place in the league standings, tied for points with the Portland Thorns with 19. The Wave defeated NJ/NY Gotham FC 1-0 at Red Bull Arena last Sunday with Makenzy Doniak scoring just 44 seconds after being subbed on at halftime off a through ball assist from forward Jaedyn Shaw, her first professional assist.

Heading into Friday’s match, the Wave continue on the road after their win at Gotham FC, holding on to a three-game road win streak. The previous two wins came from 2-0 in Kansas City and 3-0 in Houston, and the team will look to add to this road win streak against Racing Louisville at Lynn Family Stadium.
