San Diego Wave vs. Kansas City Current

In all-time meetings between the two sides, Kansas City holds the advantage with a 1-2-1 record for San Diego. Last season, the two clubs split the series with each team getting all three points on the road. The Wave’s captain, Alex Morgan, currently leads San Diego in goals (2) against the Current, while Amirah Ali and Sierra Enge have scored once each.

San Diego Wave Outlook

In the 88th minute, it was none other than forward Alex Morgan to score the game-winning goal off a perfectly delivered corner kick from midfielder Savannah McCaskill.

San Diego welcomed seven new players to their roster during the offseason including two rookies from the 2024 NWSL draft and two international players. Defender Kennedy Wesley from Stanford was the Wave’s first selection in the first round (12th overall) of the draft, and forward Mya Jones was selected in the third round (47th overall) from the University of Memphis. Kaitlyn Torpey joins the Wave from Australia after playing three seasons with Melbourne City and Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist joins San Diego from Atlético de Madrid. Among other players, Savannah McCaskill joined the Wave after two seasons withAngel City where she appeared in 23 games (23 starts) while earning four goals and three assists in the 2023 season.
