Local environmental education program teams up with Wave FC to expand awareness about the importance of reducing pollution to protect clean water and clean beaches throughout San Diego.

All season, the Think Blue San Diego logo has graced the back of the San Diego Wave FC kits. This partnership blends the ocean-themed presence of both Think Blue and the Wave to increase awareness about the local environmental education program dedicated to reducing pollution to protect clean water and clean beaches throughout San Diego.

“Since the launch of San Diego Wave FC, the club was inspired by San Diego’s beauty, its culture and the ocean. The opportunity to partner with Think Blue San Diego was a perfect opportunity to make an even larger impact in our hometown. We’re looking forward to continuing to provide awareness and help preserve and protect America’s Finest City.”

Jill Ellis, San Diego Wave FC President Jill Ellis

Think Blue San Diego’s goal is to educate people about the region’s waterways and stormwater system and how to keep chemicals and litter out of these sensitive areas. About 80 percent of all ocean pollution begins inland. All the pollutants left on streets and sidewalks will eventually flow untreated through the region’s watershed and stormwater system to San Diego’s bays, beaches, and ocean.

“As official partners, we know the club’s supporters care about San Diego’s beauty just as much as they do about Wave FC. We want every supporter of Wave FC to become life-long supporters of clean water and clean beaches. We aren’t just partners; we are fans of the game of fútbol and we want to bring this passion to our mission of creating a cleaner San Diego for future generations.”

Craig Gustafson, Program Manager for Think Blue San Diego.

In addition to becoming Wave FC’s official upper back-of-kit partner, Think Blue San Diego is featured in digital LED signage at the club’s home matches, and at pre-game activations at Snapdragon Stadium where fans can check out San Diego’s cutest all-electric mini street sweeper SWEEP-E.
