Veteran midfielder will stay in San Diego on a two-year deal with option

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (July 21, 2022) – San Diego Wave Fútbol Club has announced the re-signing of midfielder Kristen McNabb through the 2024 NWSL season on a two-year contract plus an option year. McNabb has played an integral role in San Diego Wave FC’s success on the pitch thus far and will remain with the club following its inaugural season.

The New Jersey native has made 12 starts in 13 matches played for Wave FC this season and has proven to be versatile as a midfielder or defender. McNabb has recorded 31 clearances, 11 interceptions and seven blocks, also winning 64.5% of her tackles. Offensively, the midfielder has created seven scoring chances, recorded nine shots and scored one goal.

In 2017, McNabb was drafted by the OL Reign where she kicked off her professional career and played for five seasons before being selected as the fourth pick in the 2022 NWSL Expansion Draft by San Diego Wave FC.

Internationally, McNabb has represented the United States on the U-18 and U-23 national teams. The midfielder played collegiately for the University of Virginia, where she was recognized for an array of accolades, like NSCAA All-Region Selection, All-ACC Second Team and more.

McNabb re-signs with San Diego Wave FC ahead of the team’s road match against the Chicago Red Stars on Saturday, July 30, in a top-two NWSL standings clash.
