San Diego Wave FC has announced programming details for the club’s annual Fan Appreciation match, presented by PNC Bank, on Sunday, Oct. 15, as the club competes against Racing Louisville FC at Snapdragon Stadium. Kickoff for the match is set for 2:00 p.m. PT.

Limited tickets remain for Sunday’s match and can be purchased here. For groups of 10+, call 619-367-0617 to receive discounted tickets and fees through the club. In addition, the club is offering Kids Free Day as part of San Diego’s October Kids Free Day.

The atmosphere is sure to be energetic for the Wave’s final regular season match of the season. Last Saturday, the Wave clinched a top-two seed, securing a first-round bye and home-field advantage for a semifinal matchup. The club has the potential to clinch its first NWSL Supporters’ Shield. Off the field, supporters can look forward to numerous activations and giveaways; the first 10,000 fans in the gates will receive an exclusive Wave FC basketball jersey, courtesy of PNC Bank.

FAN FEST, PRESENTED BY SIETE FAMILY FOODS
An amplified Fan Fest, presented by Siete Family Foods, will start at 11:00 a.m. PT. Located on the northeast lawn outside of Snapdragon Stadium, supporters can enjoy festivities including:   

  • Women’s College Basketball autographs from 11:15 11:45 a.m.  
  • Live music from R&B singer Frankie J from 12:0012:30 p.m. 
  • Kids soccer activations, including Soccer Dart Board in the Game Zone, presented by 24 Hour Fitness 
  • Face painting, sign making and more in the club’s Spirit Zone
  • Hexar camera for digital photos and videos with Wave FC players
  • Live music from DJ Hiba before and after Frankie J performance   

The pregame concert headlined by Tijuana-born and San Diego-raised contemporary R&B artist, Frankie J, will begin at noon on the Siete Stage. Wave season ticket members will be able to watch the iconic singer from an exclusive area by showing their merchandise passes in their Account Manager and wallet.

The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a limited-edition Wave FC basketball jersey, courtesy of PNC Bank. The teal jersey is outlined in hot pink and includes the wave pattern running on the sides of the jersey, while donning San Diego across the chest. The back of the jersey showcases the club’s deconstructed crest with the number 23, honoring the club’s 2023 season.   

IN-STADIUM 
In addition to the gate giveaway, all fans in attendance will receive an automatic entry for tickets to the Wave’s 2024 home opener and on-field post-game access. Wave staff will provide surprises and delights at the stadium, including (but much more!):

Tirzah Villarreal, who was named Broadway San Diego Award’s 2023 Best Actress, will perform the national anthem. Tony Gwynn Jr. will kick off the match as the Wavemaker. Gwynn Jr. is a current local radio broadcaster and former Major League Baseball player, also son of Padres legend Tony Gwynn. Former American professional tennis player James Blake, who won 10 titles on the ATP tour, will take part in the pre-match coin toss, along with PNC’s Prohaska and both club’s captains. 

Prior to kickoff, the club will celebrate defender Christen Westphal, who celebrated her 100th career appearance in the NWSL with a start against North Carolina Courage on Oct. 7. Since joining the Wave in the club’s inaugural season, Westphal has appeared in 44 matches (42 starts). 

Additionally, San Diego Wave and 24 Hour Fitness will recognize four local high school coaches for their contributions to improving the lives of student athletes and their extraordinary dedication to building the teams they serve. These coaches, who were nominated by their peers and athletes, will be presented with a $1,000 check. In addition, coaches will receive an annual membership to the 24 Hour Fitness gym of their choice.

The Wave’s semifinal match on Nov. 5 will be on-sale at a later date. Fans can sign up for presale tickets here. Season ticket members will receive first access to playoff presale tickets. In addition, Wave Season Memberships deposits are now available ahead of the club’s 2024 season.
