San Diego Wave FC commends the courage of the individuals who came forward and shared their NWSL experiences with the USSF investigation and the ESPN E60 documentary. As a club, we are deeply saddened by the devastating accounts of abuse and misconduct across the NWSL that were uncovered. There is no place in our sport for the abusive behavior described in the report and in the documentary.

Since our club’s founding, San Diego Wave FC has been committed to player welfare and to creating a safe and welcoming environment for athletes and staff. We know this is only the beginning of building a new standard for player safety on and off the pitch.

As a club, we will continue to partner with and listen to our players to ensure that their safety remains our number one priority. We are actively working with our NWSLPA representatives and will be sharing our current player welfare protocols and actionable future steps the club will be taking. We are also cooperating with the NWSL/NWSLPA Joint Investigation that is currently ongoing. We continuously review and evaluate our player safety protocols and update as necessary. Wave FC is committed to creating a world-class, safe, supportive and professional environment for everyone.

Alongside the NWSL and NWSLPA, we encourage anyone with information related to harassment, abuse, retaliation, or bullying towards anyone in our league to contact [email protected] or to reach out to the NWSL or NWSLPA directly.
