After an inaugural season of history-making, San Diego Wave FC kicks off its much anticipated second season on March 25 at the 32,000-seat Snapdragon Stadium.

In a schedule packed with marquee match-ups, here are the Top Five Must-Watch Wave Matches that are sure to make a splash this season!

Saturday, March 25: Home Opener vs. Chicago Red Stars

Wave FC will kick off its second historic season on Saturday, March 25. The event will launch with the club’s Fan Fest outside of Snapdragon Stadium before kickoff at 7:00 p.m. PT. The first 5,000 fans will receive a limited-edition schedule magnet. Tickets for the home opener are on sale and available here.

Tensions will be high this match as former Chicago Red Stars Danny Colaprico and Rachel Hill will face their former team. These two free-agent signings came after a grueling quarter-finals match between the Red Stars and Wave FC during the 2022 postseason.

In addition to the scar tissue from last year’s quarter final, there is another internal rivalry. USWNT teammates Mallory Swanson and Alex Morgan will face off against each other, and these goal-scoring playmakers are sure to make the game exciting for all fans.

Saturday, June 17: Rivalry Match vs. Angel City FC

The Battle for Southern California will return to Snapdragon Stadium in June. The last time these teams met was in front of a historic sold-out crowd for the stadium opener on Sept. 17, 2022. Jaedyn Shaw found the back of the net in the 30th minute to steal the win against Angel City.

The rivalry between Los Angeles and San Diego runs deep and will surely result in an electric game and atmosphere.

Friday, May 26: Military Appreciation Night vs. Portland Thorns

To kick off Memorial Day Weekend, the Wave will honor military and first responders at a Military Appreciation Night, presented by PenFed Credit Union, as they take on defending NWSL Champions, the Portland Thorns.

After a tough loss to Portland in the Semi-Finals last year, Wave FC looks for retribution with a win at Snapdragon Stadium.

San Diego is home to the largest per capita concentration of military personnel in the country, and Wave FC is committed to supporting its military and their families.

Saturday, Sept. 16: Latino Heritage Night vs. Kansas City Current

Thirty percent of all San Diegans trace their heritage to Latino roots. Wave FC will pay homage to San Diego’s vast and vibrant Latino community during Latino Heritage Night versus Kansas City Current in September.

In the teams’ last meeting, Wave FC fell short in a 1-2 loss to the Current at Torero Stadium. This year, Wave FC seeks a different result on the new home turf with the teams’ first meeting at Snapdragon Stadium.

Sunday, Oct. 15: Fan Appreciation Night vs. Racing Louisville FC

To round out the end of its second season and prepare for the 2023 NWSL Playoffs, Wave FC will host a Fan Appreciation Night on October 15 in a match-up against Racing Louisville FC. The night will be all about thanking Wave’s incredible supporter base with a Fan Fest, giveaways and more.

After being the first ever NWSL expansion team to make a playoff run, expectations are high for Wave FC to make another push for the 2023 playoffs.
