San Diego Wave FC today announced that the club has signed forward Kyra Carusa to a new contract. Carusa is under contract with the Wave through the 2024 season with an option for the 2025 season.
“Kyra is an experienced attacker with a proven goalscoring record for both club and country,” said San Diego Wave FC General Manager Molly Downtain. “She’s a dynamic player with a noticeable presence whenever she is on the field and we’re excited to have her continue representing her hometown.”
Carusa, 28, joined the Wave mid-season from London City Lionesses. In her first-ever NWSL campaign, the San Diego native played in eight matches (four starts), while scoring two goals, including the game-winning goal against Portland to help the Wave secure a playoff berth.
Internationally, Carusa represented the Republic of Ireland and made her debut in the EURO 2022 Qualifier after qualifying to play for the country through her grandparents. Since her debut, Carusa played in Ireland’s first-ever World Cup, where she started all three matches. Overall, she’s appeared in 19 matches, while netting six goals.
