San Diego Wave FC announced today that the club has signed 2024 NWSL Draft pick Mya Jones (3rd round, 42nd overall) to a two-year contract.

“Mya is a very promising and exciting young player who has a lot of great attributes and has shown throughout her time at Memphis that she can create and score goals,” said San Diego Wave FC General Manager Molly Downtain. “We made sure to move up in the draft to select Mya as we believed she was one of the most raw and talented forwards in the NWSL Draft. We’re looking forward to her continuing to develop here in San Diego.”

Jones, 22, made 93 appearances over five seasons with University of Memphis. The Calgary, Alberta native scored 26 goals and added 27 assists with the Tigers, leading them to three straight AAC titles and five NCAA tournament appearances. In her final season, Jones was named the AAC Championship Most Outstanding Offensive Player, AAC Championship All-Tournament Team, AAC Offensive Player of the Year and AAC All-Conference First-Team.

Internationally, Jones has represented Canada at the U-15, U-17 and U-20 levels, capturing gold at the CONCACAF Championship in 2014 and a silver medal in 2015.
