San Diego Wave FC today announced the launch of La Ola, the club’s limited-edition merchandise collection celebrating Latino Heritage Month. Chicano Federation, a local nonprofit which serves diverse populations throughout San Diego County with programs that help children and families access vital and often life-changing services, will receive 25% of proceeds from the exclusive drop.
Available through the San Diego Wave’s online and in-stadium, the collection features a t-shirt and hat. Inspired by San Diego’s vibrant Latino community and by Chicano Park, the t-shirt is designed to showcase the artwork along the walking path in Barrio Logan, the city’s oldest Mexican-American neighborhood. The hat features custom accents, including a woven La Ola patch on the front, a Wave FC patch on the brim and custom inside taping.
On Sept. 16, the Wave will host Latino Heritage Night with festivities beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the club’s first-ever Fiesta Futbolera. Located on the northeast lawn outside of Snapdragon Stadium, Festival Futbolera will feature music, entertainment, drinks and more. Mariachi Internacional San Diego will play at the festival, as well as perform the national anthem pre-game. Fans can see two lowrider groups, the Unique Ladies and the City Car Club, while also having the opportunity to participate in face painting and poster making. For those over 21, a Bud Light Beer Garden featuring Estrella Jalisco and a michelada bar will be open to the public.
Latino Heritage Night, presented by McDonald’s, kicks off at 7:00 p.m. PT. Single-game tickets for the match can be purchased here with more details to be announced soon.
