The Wave’s Pride Night celebration will take place during the club’s Friday, June 28 match against Chicago Red Stars, presented by Alaska Airlines
SAN DIEGO (June 25, 2024) – San Diego Wave FC has announced activations for the club’s annual Pride night match at Snapdragon Stadium on Friday, June 28, presented by Alaska Airlines.
The Wave’s Pride night will take place around San Diego’s match against the Chicago Red Stars on Friday, June 28 at 7:00 p.m. PT at Snapdragon Stadium. The match will be streamed on NWSL+ and broadcast locally on FOX 5/KUSI.
Friday’s match will feature a variety of Pride activities and events for fans to enjoy. Prior to the match, the Wave will host a Pre-Match Block Party on Victory Drive, located on the northeast side of the stadium near the orange lot. The block party will kick off at 4:00 p.m. PT featuring local LGBTQ+ organizations, Wave FC inflatable soccer game, balloon artist, poster making, face painting, and music from iHeart radio’s Pride Station until 6:30 p.m. PT.
As fans enter Snapdragon Stadium, they can visit the Pride in the Sky party at Cutwater’s Bar on the south side, 300-level of the stadium for happy hour with music, games, photo opportunities, and 10% off beverages until kickoff.
To tie in the club’s Olympic Send-Off, San Diego Wave will welcome Team USA Rugby player Ilona Maher as the Wavemaker for the night.
Prior to kickoff, San Diego County Supervisor Terra Lawson Remer will issue an official government proclamation celebrating the Wave’s Pride Night at Snapdragon Stadium. The pre-match ceremony will feature a pride center circle flag and the match will also utilize pride-themed corner flags.
Halftime entertainment will feature a performance from the San Diego Women’s Chorus (SDWC) on the north concourse of Snapdragon Stadium. The SDWC is made up of roughly 150 musicians and welcomes members and volunteers from the LGBTQ+ and straight ally communities.
Tickets for Friday’s match, as part of this year’s Pride Pack, include a limited edition Wave FC Pride Belt Bag. Fans who purchase a Pride Pack can pick up their belt bag at Turf Pad inside the stadium. A portion of each Pride Pack sold includes a donation to San Diego Pride.
Fans are invited to attend the official Wave pre and post-game party at Gossip Grill. Defender Kennedy Wesley, goalkeeper Hillary Beall, and club reporter Megan O’Keefe visited the only inclusive Queer Women’s and LGBTQ+ restaurant and nightclub, open seven days a week, ahead of the match and the video can be found here.
