COLLEGE: During her 2018 freshman season, Girma started 22 games, scoring twice and had four assists. She was named TopDrawerSoccer Freshman Best XI first team, All-Pac-12 freshman team, and All-Pac12 third team, and was a Pac-12 Champion. During her 2019 sophomore season, Girma started all 25 games scoring two goals and adding one assist. Girma was named Pac-12 Defense Player of the Week (Oct. 21), CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 first team, All-Pac-12 first team, Pac-12 Defender of the Year, United Coaches All-West Region first team, ESPNW All-America, College Cup All-Tournament team, College Cup Most Outstanding Defensive Player, United Soccer Coaches All-America first team, MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist, named Stanford Captain, and won the NCAA and Pac-12 Championship. During her 2020 junior season, Girma was the team captain and earned Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll. During her 2021 senior season, Girma was the team captain, a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist, United Soccer Coaches All-America first team, Pac-12 Defender of the Year, Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, United Coaches All-Pacific Region first team, All-Pac-12 first time, Two-Time Pac-12 Defense Player of the Week (Oct 11, Oct 25), CoSIDA Academic All-America first team, CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 first team, Senior CLASS Award Finalist, Senior CLASS Award All-America second team, and United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America first team.

INTERNATIONAL: Girma was 2020 U.S Soccer Young Female Player of the Year. She played in the U20 World Cup in 2018, U20 women’s national team CONCACAF Qualifiers in Trinidad & Tobago (2018), U19 women’s national team NSWI Cup CFA International Tournament in China (2017), U17 women’s national team CONCACAF Qualifiers in Grenada (2016) and U17 women’s national team World Cup in Jordan (2016).

PERSONAL: Naomi is the daughter of Seble and Girma. She has an older brother, Nathaniel, and grew up in San Jose, CA. She is currently working towards a master’s in Management, Science, and Engineering and is enjoying exploring San Diego with her teammates.
