Officially entering the second half of the 2022 NWSL season, San Diego Wave Fútbol Club and Racing Louisville FC face off for a second battle, this time at Torero Stadium on Friday, July 15 at 7 p.m. PT. After falling 1-0 to Racing Louisville on May 18 at Lynn Family Stadium, San Diego has home field advantage on Friday with an undefeated home record of 3-0-2.

Drafted by San Diego in the 2022 Expansion Draft, defender Kaleigh Riehl will face her former team, Racing Louisville, and is sure to be an asset on the back line against familiar faces.

With 21 points and a 6-3-3 record, San Diego Wave FC enters Friday’s match still on top of the NWSL standings, and Racing Louisville brings a record of 2-5-4, sitting tenth in the table. San Diego is trailed closely by the Chicago Red Stars (20 points) and looks for a solid win on Friday to hold its lead in the NWSL standings.

Despite the losing scoreline, Wave FC dominated offensive statistics last Saturday at Banc of California, recording 19 shots to Angel City FC’s nine, and 27 corners to ACFC’s eight. San Diego brings these positives into Friday’s match with lessons learned to secure a full three points and remain undefeated at home.

Racing Louisville enters the matchup with just one winning result on the road in the 2022 regular season. The team’s last match resulted in a 2-1 loss to Gotham FC with their lone goal being scored by Savannah DeMelo.

San Diego Wave FC continues to have strong performances with five key players away on national team duty. Attacking players like Kristen McNabb, Makenzy Doniak, and Belle Bride have stepped up to score, and the opportunities are endless for Wave FC’s talented and youthful squad.
