San Diego Wave FC (2-0-0, 6 points) heads on the road for the club’s first away match in 2023. The Wave will face off against OL Reign (1-0-1, 3 points) at Lumen Field in Seattle, Wash., with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. PT.

Last season, the Wave faced off against the Reign four times between two regular season matches and two Challenge Cup matches. In the regular season, San Diego has yet to beat Seattle as the club has an all-time record of 0-1-1. Alex Morgan scored the lone goal for the Wave against OL Reign when the forward converted in the eighth minute off an assist from goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan on June 12, 2022.

The Wave are coming off back-to-back home matches to kick off the season, most recently defeating North Carolina Courage at Snapdragon Stadium. The match saw Morgan earn a brace, while 18-year-old forward Jaedyn Shaw earned her second goal of the season.

Meanwhile, the Reign are coming off their first win of the 2023 NWSL season, beating NY/NJ Gotham FC 2-0 at Red Bull Areana. Midfielder Jess Fishlock scored for Seattle, becoming the first player in league history to score a goal in every NWSL regular season.

The Wave enters Saturday’s matchup with six goals scored by three different forwards, while the Reign have recorded two goals from two players.

With three points on Saturday,  the Wave could become the second team in NWSL history to win their first three matches of a season multiple times after North Carolina won four straight to start both 2017 and 2018.

Saturday’s match will be streamed live on Paramount+ and TSN.
