PROFESSIONAL: Telford began her career at Sunderland, in her native North-East. She joined Leeds United in 2007 where she found success being named player of the match during the 2008 FA Women’s Cup in Leeds’ 4-1 defeat of Arsenal. She was then signed by Chelsea Ladies ahead of the 2011 FA WSL season where she made 23 appearances. In October 2012 it was announced that Telford would join Australian club Perth Glory on loan for the 2012-13 winter season. In 2013. Telford returned to Chelsea where she made 29 appearances. She joined Notts County in 2014 and made a total of 30 appearances with the team before the club folded in April 2017. Telford then returned to her former club Chelsea in 2017 before joining San Diego Wave FC. In her career, Telford has won 2 FA Cups, 3 leagues, 2 league cups, 1 community shield, and 1 spring series.
INTERNATIONAL: Telford is a mainstay on the England national team having been named to the 2007, 2015 and 2019 World Cup rosters. Telford made her senior international debut on March 11, 2007 as a substitute against Scotland, having previously played at U17, U19, U21 and U23 levels. In May 2009, Telford was one of the first 17 female players to be given central contracts by the Football Association. Telford played her first minutes at a major tournament in June 2019, starting in England’s second group game at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup against Argentina. Additionally, in 2019 Telford played a key role in winning the 2019 SheBelieves Cup for England playing in two of their three matches against Brazil and Japan. Her stellar play as part of SheBelieves helped lead to Telford’s selection on Team Great Britain for the Tokyo Olympics.
PERSONAL: Telford took up a part-time coaching role for Chelsea, supporting the Blues Under-16 and Under-18 goalkeepers.
