San Diego Wave FC continues in the UKG Challenge Cup against OL Reign this Friday, July 28, at Lumen Field. Kicking off at 7:00 p.m. PT, the match can be streamed live on Paramount+.

With two matches left in the Challenge Cup group stage, the Wave look for a win this week following a 4-1 defeat on Friday against the Portland Thorns. San Diego was able to pull one back in the 81st minute when 6-foot-1 midfielder Taylor Kornieck finished a header off a corner kick from midfielder Jaedyn Shaw, notching her second goal in as many games.

The Reign will play their first match this weekend since July 7, a 1-0 loss to Orlando Pride. The Pride’s Messiah Bright scored the only goal of the night in the 16th minute by heading Julie Doyle’s cross into the back of the net.

The last time the two sides met was at Snapdragon Stadium on June 24, where the Wave fell to OL Reign 2-1. After going down in the eighth minute, San Diego tied the match just two minutes into the second half when forward Alex Morgan sent a cross into the box for midfielder Jaedyn Shaw. The 18-year-old headed the ball to the back post past a diving Reign goalkeeper to even the match for the Wave. However, the Reign would score thirty minutes later to close out the match and take all three points.

THE WAVE RETURN TO SNAPDRAGON AUGUST 5!
