SAN DIEGO (Oct. 5, 2026) — Nine San Diego Wave FC players are set to represent their respective national teams during the October FIFA international window, with call-ups spanning five federations at both the senior and youth levels.

Kennedy Wesley and Trinity Byars have both earned call-ups to the U.S. Women’s National Team for two matches against reigning Women’s World Cup champion Spain. Wesley earns the selection following her senior debut nearly one year ago on Oct. 29, 2025, and her first international goal on April 18. The call-up for Byars marks her first-ever selection to the senior national team, coming off a breakout season in the NWSL in which she recorded 10 goals and three assists. Byars has previously featured at multiple youth levels dating back to the U-14 squad and earned U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year nominations in 2019 and 2022.

Kimmi Ascanio, Melanie Barcenas and Gia Corley have been selected for the United States U-23 squad, which will face the Dominican Republic U-23 team in Fayetteville, Ga. Ascanio and Barcenas are the youngest players on the roster for this camp, with both having experience with the U.S. youth national teams, including at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. Corley has represented both the United States and Germany at the youth level from U-17 through U-23. Born in Tacoma, Wash., the midfielder holds dual citizenship.

Barbara Bonansea has been selected for Italy’s Women’s National Team. Bonansea has been a cornerstone for the Italian team since making her senior debut in 2012, representing the country at five major international tournaments, including two FIFA Women’s World Cups (2019 and 2023) and three UEFA Women’s European Championships (2017, 2022, and 2025).

Luisa Agudelo has been called up to Colombia’s senior national team following a bronze medal finish at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup with the youth side. Agudelo earned Player of the Match honors twice during the tournament, including in the final match, where she helped Colombia secure the bronze medal in a penalty shootout against Italy on September 26.

Mimi Van Zanten has been called up to the Jamaica Women’s National Team for a pair of international friendlies against Mexico. Van Zanten has competed with the Reggae Girlz against the United States, Panama, Antigua and Barbuda and Guyana over the last year. The defender previously represented U.S. Soccer at the youth levels from U-15 through U-23 before making the decision to represent Jamaica as she looks to help the federation qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Laila Harbert will travel to York, England, to represent the U-23 Lionesses as the federation looks to defend its U-23 European Championship title captured in April. Harbert has been a mainstay with England’s youth national teams, most recently starting every match for the U-19 side as it secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
