SAN DIEGO (Sept. 25, 2026) – San Diego Wave FC (15-8-3, 48 points) earned a 2-0 road win over Racing Louisville (7-17-2, 23 points) on Friday night.
Gia Corley opened the scoring in the 27th minute, finishing after Lia Godfrey found her following a Trinity Byars flick at midfield. The goal was Corley’s second of the season, while Godfrey’s fifth assist made her just the fifth rookie in NWSL history to record five assists in a season.
Ludmila doubled the lead shortly after halftime, finishing a Kenza Dali through ball just three minutes after coming on as a substitute. San Diego continued to manage the match from there, with Barbara Bonansea making her NWSL and Wave debut as an 81st-minute substitute.
As Louisville pushed for a response, Sandra Paños and the Wave backline held firm to preserve the shutout, with defender Mimi Van Zanten making several key defensive plays down the stretch. The clean sheet marked San Diego’s first back-to-back shutouts since the 2-0 win against Chicago on May 31 and the 2-0 win against Gotham FC on July 4, and the third time this season the Wave have recorded consecutive shutouts.
