SAN DIEGO (Sept. 2, 2026) – San Diego Wave FC forward Trinity Byars was voted the NWSL Player of the Week today for her standout performance in Week 19 of the 2026 season.

Byars scored twice in San Diego’s 3-2 comeback win over Racing Louisville FC on Friday night at Snapdragon Stadium, bringing her season total to 10 goals. She became the second player in club history to record double-digit goals in a single season, joining Alex Morgan, who scored 15 goals in 2022. Byars’ 10 goals are the most by a Wave player in 2026.

The forward has recorded four goals and two assists in the last two matches, becoming the fifth player in NWSL history to record six goal contributions in two regular season matches and the first since Kerolin for the North Carolina Courage in 2022. Byars has been directly involved in six of San Diego’s eight goals over that span and now has 12 total goal contributions this season.

“She’s a very, very good finisher. I’m really pleased for her. She’s really made a name for herself in the league, and she’s really contributing on the offense for us as well,” said Wave FC Head Coach Jonas Eidevall following Friday’s 3-2 win over Racing Louisville FC.

With her performance, Byars helped San Diego earn its first home win after trailing at halftime in NWSL play since a 2-1 win over Chicago in October 2022. The comeback marked the second time this season San Diego has rallied from a two-goal deficit to earn a win, after also overcoming a 2-0 halftime deficit on the road to defeat Denver 3-2 on April 25.
